    Default The Nervous Nellies Corner

Did find the one on NR so helpful. Dont know if the mature section is perhaps the best place though as think there are lots of younger riders also struggling with 'issues' too

Just found it reassuring to read that others are going through similar nerves/new horse problems as I am at the moment - getting better though!

so - if anyones interested - I'll start the ball rolling. Wont bore you with too much of stuff up until this point. Briefly had JJ nearly 3 months - with help of wonderful YO/RI have now progressed to EVEN cantering in the school. Lots of foot soldiers on mini hackets - but have now done a couple of little lane ambles totally unescorted:

I am just off to have a go riding him in the wind - he deffo doesnt 'do' wind!!! Shall ask RI to give me a lesson I think and some tips on how to remain in the saddle when he spooks at the tiny, incy wincy leaves blowing in the wind Shall stop at shops on the way to restock on Rescue Remedy - think an overdose is imminent. Ho hum - wish me luck - update later.

I would like to join the NN group too. Although Edward is a fantastic boy (& very safe) I am a mature/novice rider having gone back to riding after pretty much 30 year gap I have owned him for almost 5 months.

I still do not hack out alone unless it's just up the road to my riding lesson every week or two. I just over anticipate the unexpected and really do hope that feeling wears off soon.......

However, I feel very relaxed on him hacking out with groups, really enjoy my lessons and we did a first dressage test a month ago. So not NN all of the time - it's just the riding alone thing
