    Default Cheapest 4x4 to insure?

Hiya all am on the lookout for a 4x4 - something small like a jimny but not too pricey to insure, prices Ive been quoted are about 800 for a vitara 1.6L which I thought was HIGH! Can anyone help? I'd want it to be no more than 600 which is what the Golf costs to insure.

I have one year NCB, 2 years driving experience and am 22. I currently have a 1.4 Golf which costs me 500 a year to insure! Should I just stick to the Golf? Or get a cheaper car to run until I can afford a 4x4?

Cant imagine your golf costs much to run anyway?

Stick to what you know until you find a nice Jimny or other small 4x4

Erm the Golf drinks petrol like it's fizzy pop. Is 11 yrs old so now going to need a bit of attention in the next year i assume. Want a 4x4 what with living on a farm the golf doesn't like being asked to offroad which is a shame cause I love the golf otherwise!

I had a 05 plate Golf 2.0TDI and it was THE CHEAPEST car to run, it did around 40 mpg around town and was 50 a month to insure, I'm 23 with, er, no no claims.
My new 04 2.0TD Freelander costs 100 a month to insure.
I'd deffo stick to the Golf!!

Gosh how fortunate!! I've been driving 3.5 yrs (2yrs prior to this I had a moped) and have 3 years NCB (on my dads policy though) and I'm quoted $1,500 to insure a 1L banger!! I wish I could afford to insure a Golf, I LURVE golfs!

With petrol prices going up AGAIN in April, and road tax going up too according to emmisions, if you can stick with a golf, do.

Or get something a bit happier on a farm, such as a newer golf perhaps.

do a quote on a discovery, some thing around the r reg and make sure it has 7 seats.. why do i say this.. cause the 7 seaters are classed as an estate car and MUCH cheaper to insure, road tax is also normal car price on them.
