    Default Hunter Trials

Tell me about Hunter Trials as I have never done one and I'd love to see any pics you have too please.

There is one coming up and I was wondering about trying the minimus up to 2'3 one......

have a look in my albums

not much difference between HT's and xc's tbh... often no difference

you'll sometimes get a timed section in an HT - say to open and shut a gate... rather than an optimum time for the course...

and the jumps i think are often less technical - often more inviting and more natural than some of the wacky xc jumps you can get

    go for it

Essentially it's just a xc course of natural fences (usually typical xc fences but I have seen people put knock down WH type fences in too ) - usually set to a 'bogus' time rather than a fastest. As they are usually all unaffiliated, my only warning is that some places aren't great on sticking to the specified heights all too accurately. Now that can mean they are underheight....or you can do as I did, enter a 3' class and walk the course to find one of the final fences is near on my shoulder height so clearly WAY over what the schedule stated

Anything specific you want to know?

Go look as Rosies pics...I'm not posting any as they're all from the mad early days when L first arrived and tacked up to the eyeballs

Well I could check when I walk the course, good point. I'll probably take one look at the course and think better of it, but I now the venue does do smaller xc fences. There are no class start times on the schedule.....do you get times beforehand like dressage?? Or as you arrive?

    Is this Rogate?

Its just basically an XC course - might have a timed section, might be an unknown optimum time. Ive done a couple and loved it!
