    Well done.
I bet it was great to ride loads of different horses.

I think you need some more mexican wavws on there, nearly missed them

Many thanks all. Big question is do I go for my Stage 2. The only dilemna I have is the need to jump (properly ) at 2' 6" course, with fillers, spreads the lot. Can a person (and an old one at that ) go from jumping single jumps of 15" to a course of 2' 6" in one year?????

Yes go for it. Just think how much confidence you will gain

What type of stuff did you have to do for your stage 1?

Sisco, the riding half of the BHS Stage 1, is all flat-work. In a nut-shell it invovles:

leading and trotting up and horse and holding for inspection
demonstrating balance and control in all three gaits
as above without stirrups in walk/trot
jump position in all three gaits and over trotting poles
    correct diagonals in trot
striking off on correct canter-lead, or correcting if incorrect
riding basic school shapes (serpenties, circles etc)
recognising and riding with correct school etiquette (distances, passing)

From what I've learned the stage 2 care part is a gradual upgrade from stage 1; all areas are enhanced in terms of detail and other things are added such as lunging, clipping, plaiting etc.

The ridden part I think seems more of a jump (forgetting the pun).

I might speak to my Brooksby instructor and see what she thinks. Also, my RI is a show-jumping person, so I can talk to her too - mind you she's desperate to get me jumping and see hwo far she can push the Tedward, so she;s rather biased

or you could always do yr NVQ 2 - as there are more options in the ridden bit
ps - i feel you were far to understated in yr initial post
