Default The long awaited plaiting thread

I have done this seperate to the trimming thread as it is more specific to plaiting for a weak neck or using falsies in rubbed areas

    The rubbed mane

First I collect mane hair from the thicker area that needs pulling. I also use neat mega tek daily on the rubbed area to help promote growth and to strenghen what little hair is left.

I start by sectioning the mane as normal. Wet it and apply strong hold hair mouse.

I section it as tight as possible and then band at the bottom of the plait.

I then get a section of the hair I have pulled and put it through the elastic band at the bottom of the little plait.

I section this extra hair into three and plait. I then use a needle and thread to sow the end and start rolling.

then I start to roll as normal.

To do plaits that "sit" higher on the neck you need to be above the horses neck. I stand on a bucket. excuss the rear end shot

You need to plait each section upwards as tight as possible.

    The roll.

and your plait should look like this.

I did these quite quickly and b`s mane had been washed the day before so it was quite slippery. wash the mane at least two days before a show not when you bath. Make sure you rinse it thoroughly so that you dont get scurf and when I bath the day before I just soak the mane with water and give it a good rub. Happy plaiting

P.S many thanks to B my model

Why not just plait the extra hair and actually sew the plaits into a ball then plait the little that is left still on the neck and sew the ready made plait into the mane.

I had to do this last year when the ponies sucked all Kias mane outat the bottom. And had todo it with E this ear when she rubbbed iot out on the fence. Much easier and reusable as you just cut the thread and the readymade plait falls out to be chucked ion the box for next time

I have several all different sizes for different parts of the neck and obviously for my twos different sized plaits.

Here are some pix try and actually spot the ones that are sewn in fakes!!!

Both of them have at least one fake plait in these pix

Listen, smile, agree and then do whatever the hell you were going to do anyway.

I find this way quite easy and they always look the best and you really cannot tell which ones are fake even if they get very close up and wiggle the plaits.
B always needs at least 2 fake plaits and they all look identical.
