From the pics I would say that Donny is brown and Belle is bay
They are far pickier, but it is al based on what horse technically are, i.e brown gene, bay gene etc. Just as "dun " connemaras are called dun over here and by the Irish, when techically connemaras do not carry the dun gene so they are cream? or whatever is correct?

Ameys passported as bay dun?! I'm not sure that exists? She did have a dorsel stripe when younger but it seems to have faded with age?

This is her in the summer.

Will add winter when photobucket gets over itself!

See just to confuse it even more, although donnys passported as brown, he's actually sabino as he has a roan sock and slight roaning in his winter coat.

I find colouring really interesting, have looked into it a lot as with fabio's odd marking was trying to pinpoint exactly what he was. The American forums have loads of discussion on it.

    But Sabino isn't a colour, it's a marking.

Ah OK that makes some sense

I still think they are overly fussy though - unless you had every foal genetically tested then how would you know 'true' colour?

Thank goodness mine are all black

I wish we had a colour expert to help us out... I'll pm the knowlegable ones on the US forum and ask if they will help.
