Default XC schooling- getting our bravery back! (with photo overload)

We went XC schooling today with Peaches on the ground for photos and support, and my friend's mum who has taken over the riding of their horse now my friend is off at uni. We both had a really great time, I am so proud of my friend's mum as she was nervous beforehand, but did amazingly well and jumped bigger stuff than I had expected!

Bril was HAPPY to be out at XC again, delirious in fact!

Bril and I had a bit of a wobble last XC as he stopped and I fell off. Any knock to my confidence affects his and vice versa, so we needed to get the baby jumps sorted before moving up to the bigger stuff today.

Fortunately, today I mostly remembered that even when nervous, I should kick on and actually ask the pony to jump. This is too often forgotten!! So we had some good jumps, over some things I wasn't sure about or are on the bigger end of what we jump.

My other XC bad habit was in evidence, however. I tend to tip forward in canter anyway, and especially when I'm nervous on approach. This means we are more likely to stop and if we do, I'm not in a good position. We only had one stop, at a trakhener I was terrified of but wanted to tackle. He stopped well over a metre away from the jump, a clear sign that I'd bottled it more than him Second attempt was grand however

And my acheivement of today- a mahousive (in my eyes) box brush that was wide as well as tall...

    Thanks for reading!
